Commemorating National Hafez Day

#NationalHafezDay

The twentieth of Mehr in the Iranian calendar celebrates thought and lyric poetry and honours Khwaja Shams al-Din Mohammad Hafez Shirazi, Iran’s renowned poet. His words guide hearts, and his ghazals are an enduring legacy of Persian culture and literature.

✨✨✨

At the ceremony, Mr Hosseini, principal of the Iranian Educational Complex in Erbil, said that Hafez’s attention to the Quran and religious teachings, his ability to inspire hope and his sincere love of God made his name and poetry endure.

✨✨✨

Persian literature teachers, serving as the programme’s specialists, spoke about this great and celebrated poet.

Students in the morning and afternoon sessions also filled the complex with the beauty of Persian poetry through Hafez recitations and poetry exchanges.

Mr Hosseini, a respected parent, practised calligraphy alongside the programme, while boys from Grade 10 performed traditional music during the afternoon session.

The event concluded by recognising the complex’s Hafez reciters.
